My thoughts on the future ahead, and behind.
Here’s my take on what Matrix Reloaded was about. Just to remind you, here’s the key text from the first movie, Morpheus is talking to Neo:
MORPHEUS: When the Matrix was first built there was a man born inside who had the ability to change whatever he wanted, to remake the Matrix as he saw fit. It was he who freed the first of us, taught us the truth. As long as the Matrix exists, the human race will never be free.
After he died, the Oracle prophesized his return, and that his coming would hail the destruction of the Matrix, end the war, bring freedom to our people. That is why there are those of us who have spent our entire lives searching the Matrix, looking for him. I did what I did because … I believe that search is over.
Now, I could be fundamentally wrong about all of this, but hell, I don’t care. This is the net, I can just delete this page if I have totally blown it.
NEO: So we need machines, and machines need us. Is that your point?
COUNCILLOR HARMANN: No, no point. Old men like me don’t bother in making points. There is no point.
NEO: Is that why there are no young men on the council?
COUNCILLOR HARMANN: Good point.
I think that Councillor Harmann was the Neo version 5, and that he and the council were the original 18 members who repopulated Zion. It was he that Morpheus was talking about above.
