Coming from Australia, when they tell me we’re going to Switzerland for the day, because it’s just down the road, seems a little weird. Actually we took the long way and went via lake. The border was a non-event. On the way back, we walked up to the border with our passports to ask for a stamp. The Swiss side said, no stamp. On the Italian side, the guy had to find the stamp, blow the dust off it and then set it to today’s date. And then stamp it. And what a boring stamp it was! But since we only went into Italian speaking Switzerland, it didn’t really seem like such a jaunt. But, it’s another stamp in the passport.
